MINUTES OF recent MEETING

Minutes of the Brooktrails Women’s Club
May 7, 2010

The meeting was called to order at 1:20 PM by President, Arlane Adamson.

There were two corrections to the minutes. The amount submitted by Sara Osborne for the Brown Bag was $41.65. Sara Osborne was hostess in place of Nadine West.
It was suggested that the minutes should contain the date and time of the next meeting.
Minutes approved as corrected.

Old Business:
Craft Fair and Flea Market June 12, the 2nd Saturday in June, this year
Bake Sale: Iris DeBoer passed around a sign up sheet. Last month’s statement that the amount to donate if you are not bringing goodies was incorrect. We had voted some time ago to change it to $15.00. It was moved and seconded. Passed.

All items should be wrapped and marked with the price. Call Iris to check on prices.459-1848. Patricia Willis will bring a dozen donuts early in the morning. Good sellers are cookies, small quick breads, pies. It was suggested to cut bundt cakes in half to sell or sell by the slice. If lemon bars are brought, they should be refrigerated until just before selling. Lynn, Dorit and Nadine will help. Cindy will ask her sons if they will again work the cart outside with coffee, tea and water.

The next meeting will be June 11, at 12 noon. bring a lunch and any items for the bake sale or the White Elephant sale. All items should be marked with the price. Only clean, nice items, please. No junk.

Quilts for kids will take a space to sell items donated that they cannot use for quilts.
Spaces are $15 each. Call Arlane to reserve. 456-0734.

The Fire Department is willing to do the food and want to do the pulled beef as we did last year. Georgia will talk to Sherry for the recipe. Arlane will talk to the water department to get the cones to block access.

Betty will contact the high school and the Boy Scouts to get a clean-up crew as we are all exhausted by the end of the day!

Betty will put up posters, advertise in the Nickel and Dime, Calendar in the Willits News and we will all put out our signs on the 28th of May. If you want a sign for your yard or corner, contact Jody Moore at 456-9479.

New Business
Kyle Sickler , 984-8444 or 272-5845, is selling Theater tickets for a delightful show, “Lend Me A Tenor”. This is a big fund raiser for the scholarships and we should each purchase at least one $15 ticket. Our night is Thursday, May 27 at 7 PM. The theater always has a lovely table of goodies and wine for us to enjoy so come in at 6:30 to nibble and talk to your friends and neighbors. Friends and neighbors can be invited also. Tickets are $15 each for that special event and are also sold at the door. It is always a fun evening. We hope to see you there!! Please help us raise the funds to support our gals in college.

It was announced that Erma Conant fell and had stitches. A card will be sent to her.
Pat Houtz is not well enough to continue with Sunshine so Amy Elliott volunteered to be our Sunshine person.

BROOKTRAILS WOMEN'S CLUB
APRIL 1, 2010

The meeting opened with our special guests, Fire Chief Darryl Schoeppner and ASHES, the wonder dog. Ashes and Chief Schoeppner gave a wonderful demonstration of the amazing talents of Ashes.
She can find the tiniest drop of accelerant and will point it out to the handler. Ashes is also a search dog for live victims of earthquake or other disasters. She is an English chocolate lab, weighs 51 lbs. and is a very valuable asset to Mendocino County.

Lois Steele was introduced as a guest.

New Brooktrails phone books were passed out to BPOA members at the meeting to save on mailing cost. Good idea. If you did not get yours, call Arlane Adamson at 456-0734.

The business meeting was called to order at 1:40 PM by president, Arlane Adamson.

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as written.

The treasurer’s report was given.

Pat Houtz reported she sent out no cards in March. It was reported that Neil and Amy Elliott are both ill with "walking pneumonia". Joy Kreutz husband is in Santa Rosa with a serious bout of pneumonia. (ed: Joy's husband has passed away. Check the Willits News for the obit. We send Joy our deepest condolences.)

Betty Hansen was appointed as the new telephone tree person.

Sara reported that there is a Brown Bag meeting in May. They served 24 lunches at our last day. Sara presented a bill to the treasurer for $38.00 for food supplies.

The Texas Hold'em had a good turnout and was fun. I forgot to write down the net amount, but it was about $800. Jody suggested that we hold another one in November.

Our coffee pot was missing from the office, but was later found in a cabinet.

Jody announced she will be moving, perhaps by September. We will certainly miss her. She has been a very hard working member of the Women's Club with not only the Texas Hold'em but also the co-chair of the Scholarship committee. If anyone is interested in helping Georgia with the Scholarship committee, please let Georgia (450-4544) or Arlane (456-0734) know. We will not need to find new recipients this year as both of our gals are continuing on.

It was reported that Dorit helped in the kitchen for the St Patrick's Dinner Meeting and gave Rick
Williams directions, comments or compliments.

Meals on Wheels has a new client and Betty passed out directions to her home and a new schedule for April. Thank you, Betty.

The Craft Fair and Flea Market will be held the 2nd Saturday in June because the here was a scheduling mixup and the first Saturday was already scheduled. The set up and "white elephant" and baked goods delivery will be on Friday, the 11 th at 12 PM. We will have our June meeting that day. Bring a bag lunch and all your wonderful, clean and good things to sell. NO JUNK, please. It was pointed out that the BPOA handbook clearly states that the Flea Market is held every year on the first weekend in June! A sheet for baked donations will be sent around at the May meeting. If you cannot donate a baked goody, you are asked to donate $10. Arlane will send out notices for the Flea Market this week. Most of our vendors set aside the first weekend in June so we have to let them know of the change. It was suggested that we ask the Fire Department if they want to do food. We give them a free space each year.

Dorit passed out forms for the Flower Power fundraiser. There are some changes on the order form and you will get direct delivery of the items to your home and can order for friends and neighbors also. Send Dorit a check payable to the Women's Club by the 10 th of April. We are in zone 9.

Next meeting will be Pat Houtz and Gerri Durbin. Hopefully someone else will be available to help them.

Thank you to the hostesses this month, Marge Arnold, Dorit Schmidt-Petersen and Nadine West.

The door prize was won by Betty Hansen.

Respectfully submitted,
Georgia Galey, Secretary

(Financial reports are available from the Club Treasurer)
